Asiana Business Class Review

Flying from Australia to Europe and back again, I sought the most comfort for the best price and as a result, I experienced Asiana Airlines' business class. Booking approximately seven weeks before departure, I secured a ticket for just under $7,400AUD, significantly less than other competitors like Emirates and Qatar which were charging north of $11,000AUD for the same dates.

My journey included four flights, three on the Airbus A350 and one on the venerable Boeing 777. From swift check-in and boarding, to comfortable lounges during airport stays, travelling with the airline proved to offer a smooth and comfortable journey.

Onboard, the business class seats provided direct aisle access, although storage options were limited. Despite minor inconveniences like non-noise-cancelling headphones and the absence of individual air vents, amenities such as a large tray table and a variety of meal and snack options made the flight enjoyable. The inflight entertainment system is sorely lacking in options, with my favourite TV series category limited to just, “Young Sheldon”, a show which failed to grab my attention.

One highlight of the journey was the complimentary stopover in South Korea, provided by Asiana at no extra cost. Referred to as a STPC in airline-industry speak, this break allowed me to rest and refresh before continuing on to Europe the next day.

Although a 17 hour stopover never looks appealing, I can say with confidence that this was a pleasant addition to the overall flight experience. It helped that it came at no cost. Asiana’s ground crew in Incheon provided all of the information required for the stopover - our hotel on that particular evening was the Ibis Styles located close to the airport.

Throughout all four flights, the cabin crew demonstrated courteous professionalism, and the meal service on all travel legs was of high quality with a huge number of choices and variety. I honestly believe the meal service to be one of the best I’ve experienced in the sky, compared most recently to travels onboard Singapore Airlines in Business Class (even with their fancy, “Book the Cook” service). Despite limited entertainment options, the overall experience was excellent.

Comparing the Airbus A350 to the Boeing 777, I noticed differences in noise levels and cabin humidity, with the A350 providing a quieter and more comfortable environment - and where it can be helped, I would choose the A350 for long haul travel.

As for Asiana, I have no hesitation in recommending the airline for your next business class flight.
